The Yard Theatre invites UK-based artists to develop work-in-progress ideas responding to transformation and change as part of their opening season in the new theatre. Live Drafts is The Yard’s flagship artist development programme, previously supporting artists like Pecs Drag Kings, Marikiscrycrycry, and Dipo Baruwa-Etti, with many drafts evolving into full productions touring the UK and beyond.
Six selected artists receive £1,000 cash, one week free rehearsal space (at The Yard or East London), two hours technical rehearsal with The Yard’s team, one 30-50 minute performance before a live audience, Q&A discussion with sector peers to explore future development, 20 complimentary tickets for networks/community, and inclusion in The Yard’s opening season with tickets sold via their website. Performance dates: 7th August, 25th September, 16th October, 6th November, 4th December 2026, and 29th January 2027 (5pm).
