New BA Graduates To Watch Out For

With graduation season looming, we are so excited to celebrate some of the newest graduates from BA art courses from across the UK.

Robyn Beckett

‘The Sun is a Hole in the Sky’ by Robyn Beckett

Graduating with a degree in Painting BA (Hons) from Edinburgh College of Art, Robyn focuses on the subversion of nature as a refuge or peaceful place. By creating plant-human hybrids, such as the one seen in ‘The Sun is a Hole in the Sky’, plants are given a sense of consciousness, giving the audience a sense of unease.

Olivia Priya Foster

‘Black Sheep’ by Olivia Priya Foster

Graduating with a degree in Painting & Printmaking BA (Hons) from Glasgow School of Art, Olivia uses mostly video, sound, installation, and performance to explore many biographical themes including landscape, home, culture, South Asian diaspora, ecology, migration and queer identity. Her work often focuses on rurality and the intergenerational trauma of migration. ‘Black Sheep’, which is a series of tents made from sheep wool, are a perfect example of her practice and how an audience can find themselves in the work.

Emilia Bryant

‘Painting my nails’ by Emilia Bryant

Graduating with a degree in Fine Art BA (Hons) from the University of Leeds, Emilia is a painter with a focus on oils and acrylics. Alot of her work is abstract yet figurative, shown in the work ‘Painting my nails’, and show a sense of aliveness with the use of strong and fluid colours. The audience feels as though they are taking a look in to someone’s life, almost intrusively but in a way which feels connected to the subject.

James Aldous

‘12:381.1m29052024-never felt so close’ by James Aldous

Graduating with a degree in Fine Art Mixed Media BA (Hons) from Westminster School of Arts, James works mostly with ceramic sculpture and mixed media installation, often exploring the body and memories. ’12:381.1m29052024-never felt so close’ is made of raw clay and ceramic elements, and focuses on the idea of what if creatures from the deep came up to the surface of the River Thames. The use of raw clay means that the piece will be everchanging.

T’kya Taylor

From the series ‘I’m glad I got medicated’ by T’kya Taylor

Graduating with a degree in Fine Art BA (Hons) from Nottingham Trent University, T’kya makes work through performance and textiles. This is done in a way to explore themselves and others, as well as to memorialise. The series ‘I’m glad I got medicated’ focuses on their journey through alcohol addiction and finding a solution through medication. Their applique pieces are almost animated, in a way which really tells the story to the audience.

Dezeta Fantie

‘Braiding The Black Atlantic’ by Dezeta Fantie

Graduating with a degree in Fine Art BA (Hons) from Arts University Plymouth, Dezeta Fantie is an interdisciplinary artist known for her innovative use of textiles, collage, and text. Her work delves into her heritage as a Black British Caribbean woman, exploring Black female experiences, storytelling, cultural memory, and memorialising the lives of Black women – both historical and imagined. Her work ‘Braiding The Black Atlantic’ explores African American quilt makers, Black hair history and bio mythical fiction.

Pedro Resendez

‘CHOROMNIGRAPH’ by Pedro Resendez

Graduating with a degree in Fine Art BA (Hons) from Central Saint Martins, Pedro’s practice emphasises building relationships based on trust, where collaborative steps and overlapping voices are central. His installation, CHOROMNIGRAPH, combines car, motorcycle, and bicycle wheels with reclaimed metal and sand. The piece, whose name blends ‘chōra’ (space) and ‘omnigraph’ (universal illustration tool), invites interaction to create and alter temporary marks in the sand. This dynamic work reflects on the fluid and speculative boundaries that define territories, examining how these boundaries affect both land and people.

Charlotte Rich-Jones

Graduating with a degree in Fine Art BA (Hons) from The Ruskin School of Art, Charlotte Rich-Jones is a painter who constructs surreal and often eerie scenarios that challenge societal taboos around death and the physical human body. Blending the grotesque with the whimsical, Charlotte Rich-Jones’s pieces challenge viewers to confront the uncomfortable corporeal realities of our bodies.

Minsuh Song

From the series ’73 (ver. 2)’ by Minsuh Song

Graduating with a degree in Fine Art BA/BFA from The Slade School of Art, Minsuh constructs spaces by curating sensory experiences and physical interactions. In response to the pandemic’s impact on tactility, Minsuh’s recent 73 Series features silicone sculptures attached to handrails to enhance accessibility. The work encourages audience interaction, considering even the shapes and postures of their hands as part of the work.

Vidya Premraj

From a photographic series taken at Har Ki Pauri, Haridwar, By Vidya Premraj

Graduating with a Fine Art BA (Hons) from Central Saint Martins, Vidya Premraj uses documentary and film photography to explore how voice and narrative can create intimacy and drive social change. Documenting through a digital lens, Vidya is constantly drawn to her roots, exploring Indian culture, identity and conversation. Her recent film, Dear Daivam (meaning “God”), delves into the role of community and faith at Hindu sites across India.
