    Closing: 21st September ’25

Forest Lane Park Public Art Commission invites artists with the right to work in the UK to submit proposals for a new, permanent artwork that reflects the layered histories of Forest Lane Park in Newham, London. The commission honours the legacy of Lucel Tate, a midwife and community activist, and draws on themes of care, heritage, memory, and renewal. The selected artist will collaborate with the local community, particularly Afro-Caribbean communities, to co-create the artwork, ensuring the park’s uncovered histories are shared with future generations.

The commission offers a budget of £37,500 to deliver the project, including artist fees, workshops, fabrication, and travel expenses. Three shortlisted artists will each receive £500 to support their proposal pitch. The installation will be located in a prominent area of the park, continuing the legacy of the original ‘Guardian’ statue, which was removed due to deterioration.

This opportunity provides a platform for artists to engage with the community and contribute to the cultural heritage of Forest Lane Park.
