Commission on Entry Fees
Zealous charges a small fee on paid submissions. This helps us keep subscription costs low.
Commission is capped per transaction, so you’ll never pay more than the amount shown regardless of submission value.
This fee depends on the currency you charge your candidates in, which may differ from your subscription currency.

Frequently asked questions
When is commission charged?
Commission is deducted automatically from each paid submission as it’s processed.
Who pays the commission?
Commission is charged to the programme organiser, not the candidate.
What counts as a paid submission?
Commission only applies to submissions where the candidate pays a fee. Free submissions are not charged.
What are Stripe’s fees?
Our commission does not include Stripe’s payment processing fees, which are charged separately by Stripe and vary depending on how your candidates pay. You can view Stripe’s pricing at stripe.com/pricing.
Can I pass the fee on to candidates?
We don’t currently support adding commission automatically to the candidate’s fee, but you can factor it into your pricing when setting your submission fee.
What happens if I refund a candidate?
If you refund a candidate, Zealous will refund its commission. However, Stripe does not refund its processing fee — this is Stripe’s policy, not ours.
Why is the rate higher for other currencies?
We’re expanding our supported currencies over time. Currencies not yet listed in the table above are charged at 3.5% as they don’t currently have a minimum transaction value. As we add full support for more currencies, rates and caps will be introduced.
Can I change my fee currency?
Yes, but currency changes should not be made while a programme is live, as this could affect existing transactions. To change your fee currency, please contact us at [email protected].
Does commission include VAT?
Our commission rates are inclusive of any applicable taxes.
